I knew it was going to be a problem, given that the plug is only 1.77" in diameter according to the listing. The foam rubber gasket is smaller than that. That doesn't give much purchase for a 1.5" hole. Sadly, there don't seem to be many plugs made for a standard 1.5" hole any more. I only ordered this because I couldn't find it locally, either.Installing this took very careful centering, making sure the gasket stayed above the sink. It's very, VERY easy for an edge to slip through. When I finally got it in position, I had my wife press down on it while I put on the nut. Yes, it sometimes slipped and we had to start over.The good thing is that the gasket is foam rubber, so it squeezes down. Be sure to tighten it really tight! This both makes a good seal to keep water from getting into the cabinet, but also makes the black ring under the plug less noticeable. I was worried about how high it would stand up, because the pictures in the product listing don't show that very well. I've taken a photo so you can see it.
