This thing is a tank. I read a lot of reviews of other tea kettles (more than I want to admit to here), and a recurring theme in most, if not all of them, was eventual chipping and/or rust inside after regular use. This kettle is just a big seamless stainless steel bowl with a lid: no seams to rust, no lining to chip. I need to use a stainless cleaner on the outside every couple months and it looks like new even after two years of almost daily use. My only complaint is the ball in the spout occasionally sticks, but a solid hit to the top of my stove fixes that, and since this thing is built like a tank, it just takes the hit in stride. This would not dissuade me at all from buying it again.
