Instead of working against history, Helle has prospered and thrived from embracing it. This is represented in our knives. Many are based on traditional designs, and we treasure the handmade finishes that have been the hallmark of Helle knives throughout history. The past is always with us as we embrace the future. A small piece of our heritage. The fjords, mountains and rugged climate are not an obstacle, but rather an inspiration. The remote location and small community of Holmedal is not a source of limitation, but a source of strength and identity. Each time we send a Helle knife out into the world, we bring a small piece of our heritage along with it. Trust and Familiarity. Family tradition is not just at the management level, we have second- and third generation factory workers as well. We treasure our tight-knit community, and that feeling of trust and familiarity transmits to the products we produce. Individuality enhances it. No two Helle knives are exactly the same because each receive individual treatment by human hands. For us individuality does not come at the expense of quality, but rather enhances it. By finishing each blade individually, we are able to bring out the best of the place, past, people and production facilities at Helle. Read more Built to last Outstanding craftsmanship Three generations of hands are working diligently to produce knives at our factory in Holmedal. They work in tandem with three generations of machinery. An original Helle knife goes through up to 45 different manual operations before it passes through our quality control procedure. Carefully selected materials Good craftsmanship requires the ability to create handle shapes which are consistent with the blade, fit comfortably in the hand, and add character to the knife. In most handles, we use the hard and beautifully structured wood of curly grained birch, alone or in combination with matching materials, such as leather and stag horn. The Sheath – the Nordic way Our sheaths are made of specially tanned leather, and treated with saddle grease for increased lustre and durability. The particular shape of the Norwegian sheath bears evidence of long-time functional development and at the same time, it enhances the quality of the knife. The steel in Helle knives is unique The biggest difference lies in our triple laminated stainless steel blade. The core is made of high alloy steel which gives it a lasting, razor-sharp edge. This harder layer cannot however exclude the threat of rust or breakage. The knife is well crafted. The sheath came with the button rivet broke. Impossible to get a new one.... I even emailed helle. No responsePerfect any-use knife. Besides getting a lot of compliments from anyone who sees it, I've already used it for skinning and countless other things and it still remains sharp and true. In short, it will undoubtedly outlast me, but it won't be my only Helle.I really like the hand fit of this knife . The blade is the sharpest I have ever had on receiving the knife. Looks great too, and I like the laminated blade. The wood handle has a nice grain to it. It should have a stouter sheath though. What I liked about Helle initially was its approach to making knives. It's traditional and practical. It's been ongoing for decades and the process takes time to complete so that each and every piece is to the utmost quality. You believe that immediately when you take the knife out of its packaging too.The Fossekallen has a comfortable handle and an extremely sharp edge. The sheath is sturdy and thick, with a button-closure. The knife is ready for use and the craftsmanship will keep it going for a long time, especially if it's maintained. While I don't buy knives in this price range often, I saw it more as an investment. Given the quality of the knife and its versatile usability, I figure I'll have it my entire life (hopefully). That said, it's worth every penny because not only is it a beautiful knife, but it's useful in the kitchen, in the backwoods, hunting, fishing, camping, you name it.The knife is well made and is something to hand down someday. I wish the sheath was made from a more heavier leather. The Watch Company provided the knife as advertised. I give them 5 stars also.Outward apperances seem this Helle Sigmund will do the jobs I need it for. . I have not had a chance to firld test this knife but will resist this thread to post my results. No batoning or chopping trees.. I have a ax.Just received mine today blade its well done handles not so much the brass at the back of the handle was not properly hammered in place so there was a gap in the exposed tang where water would seep into the hidden tang and potentially rust the blade inside the handle. Extremely disappointing since ive been told these are the best blades around returned mine wont be getting anotherNice knife with expected details for a hand made product. Handle has some small areas that feel a little rough, also is not completely simétricas, don't think that was on purpose feels more like differences due to handmade manufacturing process. Probably the sharpest out of the box knife I have bought (also have a fälkniven F1 pro and a Morakniv)Ich kann Roberts Argumentation nicht folgen. Was soll man sagen? Das Messer ist für mich persönlich super!Sieht gut aus und liegt super in der Hand. Allerdings werde ichfür die ganz groben Arbeiten lieber eines meiner anderenMesser verwenden!Lieferung und Verpackung Top!This blade is actually 90mm, not the advertised 100mm. 1cm makes a difference.
