Hello Everyone, I write very few reviews. I read a lot of reviews on products so it is only right for me to return the favor of so many others.I've used triple/quadruple blades for decades now. I used disposable razors for awhile but for the past 15+ years I've used one that vibrates. Not sure if the "vibration" helped give a closer shave or not but sometimes I fall for marketing hype.I most likely would have continued using these razors for the rest of my life except one thing that has bothered me for years. These things Rarely go on sale! It feels like the manufactures have a Gentlemens Agreement to keep prices high. Understand, I was only spending appx. $4.00 a week (not including shaving cream cost) so it is not super expensive. I just feel like they are making a killing in profits off these disposable razors/blades. I want companies to be profitable but don't like it if I feel like they are "gouging" people. Hence my quest for an alternative...My beard is coarse/extra coarse and electric razors (I've tried several) do not work well on me.I also thought about a Straight Razor. I'm An Old School kind of guy so this appealed to me. I like learning a skill. After doing research (I throughly research most everything so I minimize mistakes) the straight razor took too much time. The lathering process alone, not including sometimes shave multiple times to get a very close shave, takes quite a bit of time. When I shave in the morning my time goal is 4 minutes total from start to finish. My quest led me to double edge razors. I remember my grandfather used one way back in the day. Upon researching I found razors that ranged from ultra cheap to expensive. I do not like "trying out" a mid line razor only to trade up quickly thereafter. I don't mind a high initial price but I hate to waste money on a razor I'll never use again. After reading and re-reading many posts for several days/weeks I decided on the Jatai Feather. I wanted the absolute best (within reason) quality razor and also the sharpest blades available. I initially looked at separate razor stands, animal hair (beaver?) and other high end brushes, the best rated soaps, bowls, etc..I watched many YouTube videos on how to properly shave. The one thing that I was discouraged about was the extra time involved in shaving. I didn't want to make it an "Event", I just wanted a pretty close shave, quickly. I'm not judging anyone that enjoys shaving and takes all the time, to each his own, but it was just something I just wasn't interested in.I had almost given up until I read a review that talked about "kiss my face" lotion. Women use this stuff for shaving their legs so I felt confident it would work on my face. I finally took the plunge and ordered a Feather Razor, 100 Feather Blades and 4 each of Kiss My Face lotion. My total order was appx $240 to $250. I know this sounds like a lot and it is. It is a large investment for just shaving. However, I calculated $4 a week and it would take around 15 months to break even. After paid back,it becomes Much Less Expensive! I'm still on my first container of Kiss My Face and I change out blades once a week (I could most likely get a couple of weeks off one blade but I like a sharp blade. Dull blades DRAG across your face. Not Fun.) so I'm not sure how long it will last but only needing one good squirt a day and it is almost 2 1/2 months since I started using it daily. You have to lather it up on your face and neck a little but it makes the razor glide across your skin smoothly.I calculate I will be able to shave for 30 cents a week. I can also get at least as good a shave as with a disposable.Honestly, I was intimidated the first few times I used it. I was afraid of cutting myself. There is a learning curve. Initially I had small cuts on all the high spots (small bumps) on my lower neck. I had to use after shave and toilet tissue dabs to stop the bleeding. It didn't really hurt but it was discouraging a little bit. After thinking about it, I was "over shaving". I was going over and over again in the same place trying to get a super close shave. After altering my technique a little, I hardly ever nick myself anymore. I had to remember how much sharper my new blade is. I technique I now use is almost identical to how I shaved with disposables except with a little less pressure against my face.I have not timed myself to the second but it takes me about 3 minutes from start to finish. Hot water wet face to warm water wet face.I'm very pleased with the results. The new shaver obviously feels different in my hand but it is a good feeling. Like handing a quality built item.I have no doubt this shaver will last a lifetime.I see that the price of this shaver has increased significantly but that only means a few more months to "pay it off" with your savings.Think about it. After you recoup your initial investment, you save At Least $3.50 a week.Do the math. $180+ a year. That would come in handy at Christmastime.Hope this helps someone.Blessings, Brian
